Erica Sumpter
Erica Sumpter is the Director of Corporate Strategy for the Institute of Strategic Social & Workforce Programs at Highmark Health. In this role, she focuses on aligning corporate strategy with the inclusion and belonging strategy, developing workforce recruitment and development pathways, and overseeing the programming of Highmark Health's 12 employee-led resource groups. With 21 years of service, Erica is dedicated to driving positive change within the organization and the community. Beyond Highmark, Erica is an entrepreneur, owning Envision You, a coaching and consulting business, and co-owning Ida's Sandwich Shop. She's a community advocate, serving as Vice President for two Observatory Hill boards and as President-Elect for the National Association of Health Services Executives Pittsburgh Chapter. Erica holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management, a Master of Science in HR Management, an ICF coaching certification, and DEI certifications from Cornell and Northwestern Universities.
Carrie Smith
Carrie Ann Smith joined Three River’s Business Alliance in June of 2025. She is a Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager within UPMC Supply Chain Management, where she has served for sixteen years. In her current role, Carrie and her team oversee the Environmental, Food and Nutrition, and Linen service lines, collectively managing approximately $210 million in annual spend. Her team is responsible for driving savings and cost optimization through strategic sourcing initiatives, contract negotiations, and active participation on cross-functional value analysis teams.
Prior to joining UPMC Supply Chain Management, Carrie spent nine years as a Healthcare Account Executive with Sysco Pittsburgh, LLC. In that role, she focused on business development, marketing, and customer retention, with a strong emphasis on menu development and customer-focused solutions. Carrie holds a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from Mercyhurst University.
